Synopsis

Based upon letters from the trenches and the experiences of the 15th Leeds Battalion, “Pals” explores the brutal human cost of the first World War. Answering their country’s call to arms, millions of young Britons left behind girlfriends, wives, and children to join their country’s fight against the Germans. On July 1st, 1916, their lives changed forever. Through letters, puppetry, music, and storytelling, S’park Theatre seeks to give a face to the horrifying numbers.
