Atlanta Street Fringe

Atlanta Fringe is excited to partner with the Little 5 Business Association to present Street Fringe, a platform dedicated to busking and street performers of all kinds! We are activating multiple locations all over Little 5 Points Village the weekend of June 7-9. Performers will be given multiple chances to engage with foot traffic in one of the coolest, quirkiest, and most beloved neighborhoods in Atlanta.

We are in search of: Twilight covens, one-man bands, juggling and acrobats, portable instrumentalists (guitarists, drummers, violinists, banjo, 1s & 2s, washboards, etc), puppeteers, painters, poets; the weirder, the better.

HOW IT WORKS

Selection Process
  • Street performance applications will go through a vetting process led by our Street Fringe Coordinator, Louis Kyper (louiskyper@gmail.com) to ensure that we provide a variety of performance genres and mediums. He will also provide a general busking tutorial and supportive guidance and tips.
  • Experienced, amateur, and brand-new buskers are all welcome!
The Space
  • All performances will be held outdoors. In case of rain, the Street Fringe team will work to place you in a backup location inside a participating store in the Little 5 Points village.
  • A designated performance space and paid security provided.
  • Amplified sound can be provided, but no performance lighting is really possible due to the city lighting that’s already present. People will be able to see you, so nighttime performances are still an option.
  • A PA sound system and three handheld microphones are available if requested.
  • Afternoon, evening, and nighttime slots available; you’ll get a chance in your application to tell us if you have a preference. We will do our best to accommodate, but we cannot guarantee it. The more information you can give us about your act, the more we can help.
  • Acts are open to the public, so anything G- and PG-13 is okay. Nothing R-rated will be accepted.
The Performances
  • Acts will be organized in one hour time slots, with each act getting a minimum of two slots per act. You can do your act as many times in one hour as you like. Street Fringe will rotate acts when possible to other performance spots to engage with the ultimate amount of foot traffic.
  • Audiences will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite act on the Atlanta Fringe website. The winner will receive recognition at the official Fringe Closing Party and Awards Ceremony on Sunday, June 9, 2024 and a $150 cash prize.
The Money
  • There is a $10 application fee.
  • All performances will be free and open to the public.
  • All acts will receive a base pay of $50, paid out by the Atlanta Fringe through either PayPal or CashApp.
  • Acts are welcome to solicit tips from the audience to keep. A container for cash is acceptable, and acts may also generate and bring their own signs with their own QR codes or social media handles on them. Acts are not welcome to be aggressive about collecting tips in any way, shape, or form. Signage may not block official Fringe or storefront signage, or impede the flow of foot traffic.
  • All acts will be eligible for a $150 Audience Choice Award, voted on through the Atlanta Fringe website Google form. A QR code on the Street Fringe signage will take the audience to the form to make their choice.
The Marketing
  • Street Fringe will be promoted alongside all the other events at the Atlanta Fringe on social media, website, press releases, email blasts, and so on, but you must promote your own act vigorously. We won’t be able to give individual marketing attention to every single act, so it’s important that all our producing partners are doing everything they can to get eyes on their work.
  • We’ll need anything you can give us – photos, videos, social media links, the works – so we can be sure to include you in the overall festival marketing.
  • Louis Kyper + the Fringe festival marketing team will provide information and guidance on promoting your show both online and on the spot.
  • When applicable, opportunities such as TV spots and radio interviews may be offered to Street Fringe artists on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Basics
  • The Street Fringe will be permitted and insured, with paid security.
  • All performers, cast and crew, associated with your act will be required to sign a performance waiver and photo release to participate.
  • All performers, cast and crew, associated with your act will be required to abide by the code of conduct for the Fringe festival. We will not tolerate hate speech, sexual or physical harassment or assault, stalking, or violence of any kind. If you or any member of your act engages in any of these behaviors, your act will be removed from the festival lineup and you will forfeit any payments.
  • We encourage artists of every experience level, age, physical ability, color, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and gender identity to apply.

Sounds awesome, right?
