The Buzz Intro Interview

Donald Paul Jones III/Producer, Writer, Actor

1. Why should people see your show?

People should see this show because the entire experience is designed to connect them to a greater life experience! Every story, song, or effect is intended to impact, uplift, and inspire. Above all, it's the care, responsibility, and gratitude included. I get to be the one to create that space for people, and I believe it's the highest form of love and service to the world.

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

As a former athlete and life-long competitor, I've always associated growth with challenges. I very much believe that sometimes one must be put to the test in order to achieve the self confidence it takes to succeed. Especially when there's a mix to the demands of the challenge; some being mental, physical, or otherwise. This show carries each of those for me. Festivals evoke all the excitement I experienced as a young athlete competing in sports. Traveling to new cities; the anxiety and nerves of competing with the unknown. And only succeeding as a result of knowing yourself and believing your goal is absolutely possible! I know this isn't AAU Basketball, but performing in Atlanta Fringe ABSOLUTELY a big deal where the best are on display...and I'm eager to share my best work with the great city of Atlanta!

3. What inspired you to create this?

I was determined to start with my next musical project. After my first record, Official 101, I had not recorded an entire album since 2011. The dream deferred was nipping at my conscience. I had no perceived outlet to pursue a career in music. However, I was getting a foothold as an actor and introduced to the differences between rap shows and plays. It was the captive audience who could best hear my voice! I was just about to enter the KC Fringe Festival. The thing of it was, at the time of registration, I had no script! . So I decided to shift from making an album to writing a musical. Therein I would create my ultimate talent showcase in the form of a one man show! Now, I get to share all the best of what I offer as an actor. And all the while, I get to put on a dope ass hip-hop show wrapped in an emotionally compelling and cleverly constructed delivery! Overall, my inspiration is designed for your inspiration! It's my greatest honor if any one person gets connected to theirs in the end.
