1. Why should people see your show?
I encourage people to see "After Careful Consideration" because this is a real story from a real human being. In a world of AI slop and fake social media nonsense, it's more important than ever to make connections with your fellow human beings through shared experiences. My story about unemployment is unique, but the situation is not. It's one shared by countless people who are unemployed, through no fault of their own, and are just trying to survive in a world that's getting crazier by the day. I chose to channel the experiences and emotions I've had, good and bad, into something I sincerely hope people will find funny, serious, heartfelt, touching, and relatable!
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
Festivals like this are a wonderful way to meet fellow performers, introduce yourself to new audiences, and experience great shows that you might not otherwise have a chance to see. I performed twice at Atlanta Fringe as a member of Au Guys, an Atlanta improv team, and absolutely loved the experience and made great friends in the process.
3. What inspired you to create this?
This show would not exist if I had not been laid off! It was unexpected and through no fault of my own. I certainly didn't expect what would happen afterwards! I applied for more-than 200 jobs in my field of expertise in six months without success, I jumped through countless hoops to qualify for unemployment benefits, and I still had to pay my rent and my bills without a regular source of income. One day, one of my friends told me I should do a one-person Fringe show about my experience. I thought, "Challenge accepted!" Oh, and the title of my show? It's a phrase often used in those impersonal job rejection emails.
