An Evening with Jimmy John Misty

Jimmy John Misty

Atlanta

Jimmy John Misty is a comedy folk-rock legend who has been dazzling and, frankly, delighting audiences in Atlanta with his unique brand of musical comedy. Also known as Fiona Applebee’s and Maroon Five Guys. You’re likely to see song titles like “Mental Illness Blues,” “Company Pizza Party,” “Laptop in the Bathroom, " or “Family Reunion Raffle Ticket” on his mustard-stained setlist. Spend an evening with a wacky little guy, a guitar, a piano, a blunt, and a dream - featuring original silly songs that make fun of millennial dread, corporate culture kookiness, SSRIs, craft beer, and space aliens.

The Buzz Intro Interview

Jimmy John Misty, Writer/Performer "An Evening with Jimmy John Misty"

1. Why should people see your show?

Because I'm Jimmy John Misty AKA Maroon 5 Guys AKA Mac DeMarco's Pizza and I sing comedy folk-rock songs with titles like "Laptop in the Bathroom, " "At Least I'm Not A Disney Adult, " "Mental Illness Blues, " and fun fact I ghost-wrote Gangnam Style.

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

ATL Fringe rules dude! I busked for the festival last year and had a great time playing in Little Five Points to promote the shows. Fringe feels like the perfect place for me and my act, because it's comedy, but there's a musical element and some spoken-word-talking that is semi-stand-up, part theatrical monologue, even
quasi-cabaret show...the lines are blurry, and the spirit of this festival allows me to drop all those labels and just do my thang.

3. What inspired you to create this?

I've been writing and delivering comedy folk-rock songs at open mics and various venues for 3 years, and now I have enough songs, video clips, and special guests/friends to do a solo show.
