BARK!

DreamCatcher ENT

Atlanta, GA/United States

In a city of leashes and invisible fences, the dogs begin to speak.
Through wit, ritual, and raw instinct, this satirical play reframes the human condition through canine lives—strays and show dogs, guardians and lapdogs, alphas and the forgotten. Each voice carries a different hunger: for love, for power, for safety, for freedom. As their stories collide, questions of class, race, loyalty, obedience, and survival rise to the surface, stripped of polite language and social masks. What unfolds is playful and biting, absurd and deeply human—an unflinching mirror held up by those we trained not to talk back. Equal parts comedy and critique, the play invites audiences to laugh first... and then recognize themselves in the bark.

The Buzz Intro Interview

Jacquay Waller

1. Why should people see your show?

People should see this show because the actors play dogs to convey messages normally delivered by humans. In others words, we're having FUN in HERE!!!! Also, the audience will have the chance to dialogue with the characters, NOT the actors, at the end of the show.

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

Festivals intrigue me because I get a chance to see other creatives take risks with their works. I always get a chance to see something unique. With the Atlanta Fringe, it goes up a notch -a lot of artists pushing their creativity in a montage of experiences. I love participating in Atlanta Fringe because it allows me to introduce new works and gauge the audience's reception of the work.

3. What inspired you to create this?

The toxic political environment in our country. Everybody has to be correct. Nobody seems to be incorrect. It's either black or white - no gray; left or right - no middle. I think there are some basic human needs that we should all be able to agree on without "fighting". Can we just agree to disagree and have peace with that?
