1. Why should people see your show?
My show is a hilarious, heartfelt stand-up hour about masturbation. It's very queer and very TMI. People call me the Chappell Roan of stand-up (a big compliment, but I accept <3 ). I think audience members will resonate with my fearlessness in sharing my real clusmy journey towards coming out...and get a lot of laughs along the way. I talk a lot about the pop culture of the 00s and what we closeted gay girls were doing online (superwholock!), so I know there are lots of people who will feel very seen by this show. And I really care about destigmatizing sex and sexuality. I'm a Reductress contributor and my director has written for Reductress, The Onion, and more — so I can guarantee, we're very funny.
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
I love festivals because it's an amazing way to share my show with tons of people who may otherwise have never seen it. I cannot wait to connect with the folks of Atlanta. I've heard tons of amazing things about Atlanta Fringe from friends who've performed here and I know I'll have a wonderful time myself.
3. What inspired you to create this?
I was inspired to create this show because I'd never heard anyone else talk about not liking masturbation, and I felt like such a freak. Can I be a sex-positive slut if I don't like self-pleasure? Is something wrong with me? I don't want anyone else to feel alone. I wanted to share this peculiarity, share my long road to accepting my queerness, and empower everyone to love themselves as they are.
