Herd x Sainwood: an evening of Friendship and Fanfiction

Billie Sainwood and Dani Herd

Atlanta Georgia

Join Billie Sainwood and Dani Herd, two professional romantics and shameless nerds, for an evening of fanfiction, history, friendship, and occasional horniness. You learn things about yourself. You'll learn things about the characters you love. And you'll learn more about Sebulba from Star Wars than you ever thought possible.

After a chance encounter and a steamy Batman Fanfic, these two writers and performers have lived a secret life swapping Ao3 tags, whispering scandalous headcanons, and building up the courage to finally reveal it to you this summer only at Atlanta Fringe Festival.

The Buzz Intro Interview

Dani Herd, the titular Herd of Herd x Sainwood

1. Why should people see your show?

Because fanfiction is FUN, and you deserve to have FUN. Because sometimes fanfiction is actually the most beautiful writing you'll ever read in your whole life. Because queer people don't always get to see themselves in mainstream media, but through the power of fanfiction, you can make anybody queer! And you should!

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

I love how Atlanta Fringe turns into a little walkable art nerd city for two weeks. I love doing my show, and then texting my Fringe friends to see where they're going next. I love meeting new people and seeing their rad shows. I love drinking a million iced coffees and getting to high five Chris Alonzo when I see him. I love the triumphant feeling when I find parking in time to go see a gorgeous one-person show at Dynamic El Dorado. It's just good, you know?

3. What inspired you to create this?

Fanfiction is what took Billie and I from Polite Atlanta Live Lit Acquaintances to Feral Real Life Friends Who Go to the Movies and Cry and Scream. I saw her read some bonkers and beautiful Batman fanfic at NoMoWriMo last year and was like, "Oh my gosh, that's my FRIEND." We've both done Atlanta Fringe as individual artists and this year, we wanted to do something fun and silly and focused on the joy of collaboration.
