1. Why should people see your show?
Ladies Night Comedy is an opportunity to let your hair down and have some laughs with some of Atlanta’s funniest new comics. We take comedy seriously, but not much else!
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
I’ve volunteered and worked box office for the Atlanta Fringe Fest in the past, and it’s always been one of my favorite events in the city since I moved here 7 years ago! I love the sheer variety of performances you can see at Fringe Fest, and the opportunities it creates for smaller artists to share our work with the world. Plus the team behind Atlanta Fringe are some of the kindest and most supportive folks I’ve encountered.
3. What inspired you to create this?
Atlanta has so many amazingly talented female comedians, and yet you still see so many male-dominated lineups throughout the city. I got tired of seeing one (or maybe two, if you’re lucky) token woman comic on shows, and so I vowed to start seeking out and creating my own opportunities for stage time. As one of my personal heroes Shirley Chisholm once said, “if they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair, ” and the Fringe Fest is my opportunity to pull out chairs for myself and two more of Atlanta’s funniest ladies.
