The Buzz Intro Interview

Mykal June, playwright

1. Why should people see your show?

It is actually transphobic to not come see my show

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

Listen, I'm a weird gay gremlin who has never written a play before and Fringe was foolish enough to look at me and say "yeah sure." So you really should be asking THEM why

3. What inspired you to create this?

I came out as trans at 40 and in the years since then have had maybe a little too much fun and found even more to complain about. And while there is an abundance of trans media out there, I've rarely seen my particular experience reflected as a late-in-life amateur girl. There's also this thing happening where we're being like hunted by the government? So as penance for the world being so fucking stupid, I am insisting on as many straight cisgender people as possible listen to me talk about hormones and blow jobs.
