1. Why should people see your show?
Transgender people have been all over the news this year. Usually it's because hateful lies are being told about us, our rights are challenged, or some other new legal persecution is being visited upon us. I lived the reality of one of these persecutions—an arbitrary dismissal from my job, simply for being trans. I think audiences will enjoy the story of how I fought back and defended myself. Maybe they'll even be inspired.
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
I love the idea of creatives coming together from all over the country or the world and sharing their lives and art with each other. We get to inspire and learn from each other, and also just hang out and make new friends. Atlanta Fringe is my hometown festival, and it's where I wanted to debut this show before hitting the road with it. I'm honored to be included and excited to meet my audience!
3. What inspired you to create this?
I'm a standup comedian, but I also really enjoy storytelling. Two of my role models are Hannah Gadsby and Scott Turner Schofield. I like to make people laugh, but I also want to tell stories with a beginning, middle, and end.
