1. Why should people see your show?
Audiences should come see Potential Spam to experience all original sketch comedy written and performed by the cast, bringing a wide range of comedic voices and perspectives to the stage. In the spirit of Fringe festivals, where audiences come to discover something new, the show delivers a fast-moving variety of sketches from big musical moments to absurd characters and sharp satire with comedy shaped by the unique point of view of every cast member. There is truly something for everyone.
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
We want to perform at festivals because they create a space for artists to share bold, original work and connect with new audiences who are excited to discover something different. The Atlanta Fringe Festival is especially meaningful to us because every member of Potential Spam has a connection to Atlanta, and that connection has only grown deeper as we continue bringing sketch comedy to the city. Performing at Atlanta Fringe allows us to share our work with the community that shaped us while building even stronger relationships with the fabulous folks of Atlanta. Plus, the South is simply unlike any other place; its dynamic history lays a foundation for such diverse experiences, and if that's not the perfect breeding ground for comedy, I don't know what is.
3. What inspired you to create this?
The show was inspired by a shared need to create, as each member of the cast had been pursuing creativity in different ways before realizing how much stronger we were when we finally teamed up. When we came together, we also realized that Atlanta’s sketch comedy scene is still in its infancy, which made the opportunity to build something new even more exciting. We created this show to channel our collective creativity and to help grow sketch comedy in the city from the ground floor.
