1. Why should people see your show?
First of all, it's Edgar Allan Poe. He was a brilliant writer and lead a fascinating life, and we incorporate both into our show. Whether you're a huge fan of Poe, or you're just curious about him, there's a lot to discover in Final Haunting
Second, our version of Poe suffers from psychosis (among other things), which makes him an unreliable narrator. So this isn't just a passive viewing experience for the audience... you're invited to figure out for yourself what you think really happened. When is Poe lying, when is he genuinely mistaken, and when is he actually telling the truth? And what about all the supernatural encounters - are they real, or just in Poe's head? We leave that for you to decide!
2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
Festivals are a great platform to try new things, get feedback on our plays, and connect with others in the industry!
Tamil (actor & producer) and I first met in Atlanta and were both in the Atlanta thespian scene for a while. And we still have plenty of connections here. So we thought ATL Fringe was a great place to debut our show!
3. What inspired you to create this?
There aren't many original stories about Edgar Allan Poe that truly explore the breadth and depth of his character. Did you know that only about half his works are horror or gothic fiction? He also wrote romance, mysteries, and even comedies! That's a side of him people never get to see. We created Final Haunting to explore both the complexity of Poe's personality and the psychological issues that came from the many tragedies in his life. Here's an intriguing story about Poe that hadn't been done yet, so we decided to tell this story ourselves.
