The Passion of Mr Cardboard

Miles Calderon

New York, but I'm from Atlanta

Come see Mr. Cardboard (Stamptown, Chris Gethard's That Show, Edinburgh Fringe), something between a strict imaginary friend and a powerful messiah of play, return to face his most trying hour yet! After being called forth from his slumber, Mr. Cardboard flies you to his domain, The Land of Cardboard; however, is the Land of Cardboard the magical place it once was? Mr. Cardboard must sacrifice everything for a higher power, to pleasure the audience, and to save the eternal spirit of the Land of Cardboard, in this theatrically forward solo clown show by Miles Calderon.

The Buzz Intro Interview

Miles Calderon/ Creator and performer

1. Why should people see your show?

Mr.Cardboard exists in a beautiful world. This show will be so damn funny. No swearing. YOU WILL LAUGH. YOU WILL CRY. I learned how to play a song on guitar for this. I've trained my whole life for this. He is sharp. See for yourself.

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

ATL BABY! I grew up here and I love this city so much. I also love this festival! I came in 2024 with the two hander Mr.Cardboard and we won the audience choice award!!!

3. What inspired you to create this?

I was walking with my father at O Caminho do Bom Jesus in Portugal and I thought "the story of Jesus is actually a pretty good story. If I were to make a solo show for Mr.Cardboard I could just steal that story and it would be way easier than coming up with something half as good on my own." And why did I come up with Mr.Cardboard? Well, I lost a game of dice.
