LIKA-WISE Entertainment is proud to present TRAPPED: The Weekend and the Search for "LOVE." This unconventional musical about self-healing takes a look at adult challenges in work-life and romance. Caleb Jordan River is on the cusp of a career promotion after a bad breakup. It's Valentine's Day 2011. CJ is trapped on an elevator like he was trapped earlier that day by his emotions when his ex unexpectedly showed up at his apartment. CJ was seduced into a momentary rendezvous but later comes to realize that his idea of love no longer fits the person he is becoming.

The Buzz Intro Interview

AKIL E. Pinckney/CEO and Performer

1. Why should people see your show?

People should see this show if they want to laugh, be inspired, be healed, and walk away with a new view on love.

2. What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?

Festivals are a great way for a wide range of audiences to experience a variety of creative materials. They provide opportunities for emerging artists to produce their works on a reasonable budget and be seen by many. Atlanta is home now, and its ARTS community is thriving. Atlanta Fringe Festival seemed to be one of the best vehicles for me to showcase my talents and get noticed here.

3. What inspired you to create this?

I was inspired to create this show many moons ago by the thought that I needed to do a one-person show by the age of 30. Not sure why, but that thought propelled me here. The content was drawn from personal experiences and observations of others' lives. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would become a mainstay in my creative journey and a part of my artistic mission. Over twenty years later, the message in the show is clearer and still relevant.
