“My Grandmother and I have never had a full conversation with one another. Which sucks. I wrote this piece as a way to tell her how much I love her”
- Why should people see your show?
I feel like the easy answer is because my mom would really appreciate it. Other than that, it’s a bilingual piece that I’ve been told translates well to those who may not speak spanish. Which I’m weirdly surprised by, I always thought the piece would live and die in South Florida, but then most of the “praise” it gets is from folks who don’t even speak Spanish!
So. Yes. That’s why you should watch the show.
- What about festivals intrigues you? And why the Atlanta Fringe?
I love how supportive festivals can be! I’ve heard many stories from folks who have been doing just festivals and how they have a helluva good time with it!
Specifically Atlanta Fringe because I thought, If I’m going to take a chance with attending a festival I should go to one closest to my safe little home in Miami.
It also looks so nice!!! I’m so freaking excited to attend and perform.
- What inspired you to create this?
My Grandmother and I have never had a full conversation with one another. Which sucks. I wrote this piece as a way to tell her not only how much I love her, but also as a plea to the South Florida community to actually try and communicate with those who don’t speak Spanish.
- Life has been weird the last few years, to say the least. How has the “real world” affected the art you’re creating?
The “real world” has definitely reminded me that theatre is about one’s relationship with the audience. They are your “fourth wall”, so make sure the energy is flowing out to them.
- What have you learned from working on your show so far?
Language transcends barriers. Like fully. A piece written in English and Spanish is extremely relatable to people who have their own barriers in other languages. Which makes me feel like the story I’m telling is an important one.
- There’s a mysterious stranger in the back row of your show, wearing a big ol’ N95 mask and a baseball cap and there’s something weirdly familiar about them, and then they come up afterwards to tell you they loved your show. In your WILDEST DREAMS, who is this mysterious stranger? (Bonus points if your mysterious stranger is an Atlanta celeb.)
OMG Danny Pino!!!!

- Fringes are the place to really push the boundaries so we gotta ask: are you inviting your family to this show are “Hey, maybe sit this one out you guys…”
It’s for sure an alright family show, except for like 2-3 cuss words.
- Will your show change the world?
I mean… maybe? If by changing the world, you mean showing communities that you can include those who don’t share the same language as you. Especially if they’ve lived in that community their whole lives.
- Zoom meetings: dress up head to toe or Donald Duck it?
Nice shirt, sleepy time pants, meeting in one window, in the other? Minecraft videos.
- We’re making an excellent Fringey Feelings playlist. Describe your show in two or three songs we can add to keep the jams flowing.
