“I love working with this cast and crew! They really make every moment really fun and enjoyable. Not enough can be said about working with real friends.”
1. Why should people tune in to your show?
If you’re a fan of early 2000’s coming-of-age drama’s this is the show for you! We’ve been workshopping this show for a while and a lot of love and care have gone into every piece of it. If you enjoy parody and maybe want to see what this crazy cast of characters has been up to since 2003, come on through! Also, we are very funny. The team has huge fans of the show, Dawson’s Creek. We were looking for a new fun challenge in creating a sketch show, trying to find a way to explore our love for the greatest teen drama of the 90’s, and also continue in our endeavor to be the funniest sketch team in Atlanta. Previously we had hit on themes like horror movies and fairy tales. Those shows consisted of multiple character’s for the players on our team to take on. This show represents the first time the actor’s take characters on a journey and presents a fun new challenge in crafting a story that is still true to the humor that we have long engrained into our reputation. A challenge, but hey, that’s the only way we know how to do it.
2. What about festivals intrigues you? Any why the Atlanta Fringe?
A number of us have seen shows in year’s and really wanted to take part in an event that works to bring together creative forces, not just locally, but around the country and world.
3. What inspired you to create this?
The team has huge fans of the show, Dawson’s Creek. We were looking for a new fun challenge in creating a sketch show, trying to find a way to explore our love for the greatest teen drama of the 90’s, and also continue in our endeavor to be the funniest sketch team in Atlanta. 4. This year ain’t normal and there’s no sense pretending it is. How has Covid affected what you’re doing for this festival?
Great question! Within the current climate we have placed great focus on our projects either being fully virtual or (in the case of live shows) being socially distanced for the safety of our performers and our audience. I think we’ve done well in meeting this challenge by being true to our core goal of delivering a quality production. Whatever barriers we have to get through to reach this goal are met without intimidation and our goals are delivered as best we can within these limitations.
All said, the show remains unchanged and we hope the audience enjoys the production as much as we have enjoyed creating it!
5. What have you learned from working on your show so far?
I love working with this cast/crew! They really make every moment really fun and enjoyable. Not enough can be said about working with real friends.
6. There’s a mysterious, anonymous little square watching your show and sticking around for the talkback. In your WILDEST dreams, who is that mysterious stranger grooving on your work? (Please note, this question is inspired by us recently learning that Neil Patrick Harris has been doing this.)
I hope it’s my mom and she tells me how proud she is of me.
But for real, like Donald Glover and he just like, drops a message in the chat saying he likes it and thinks it’s a really cool idea and he wants us to be a part of ‘Atlanta’ season 3 or something.
7. Fringes are the place to really push the boundaries so we gotta ask: are your parents getting the link are or you gonna be like, “Uhhhh, I dunno, the website doesn’t seem to be working, Mom…”
Yeah, anyone can watch this! Nothing too crazy happens, I think…
8. We’ve asked this question every year for the past nine years or so but it hits different this year: Will your show change the world?
No, but it should make you feel good which means, going forward, you would bring a positive perspective into the world, which.. okay, yes it will change the world.
9. Zoom meetings: dress up head to toe or Donald Duck it?
If it’s a Thursday, dress up. Otherwise, wear what you want!
10. We’re making an excellent Spotify playlist. Describe your show in two or three songs we can add to keep the jams flowing.
I mean it’s Dawson’s creek inspired so ‘I Don’t Want To Wait’ by Paula Cole has to be on there.
[Editor’s note: HELL YISSSSSSSS]
We’re fans of Killer Mike so any Run The Jewels would have to be there as well.
[Above: We also love RTJ unconditionally, but this remix in particular has been moving our booties lately.]
Sounds awesome, right? Be sure to nab your tickets here.
